Nevada is currently using two area codes. Nevada has had one area code split and does not utilize any area code overlays
Area code 702 originally covered all of Nevada when it was established in 1947. It was not until 1998 that Nevada experienced sufficient growth in population and telephone use to need an additional area
code. It was at that time that area code 702 was split to form area code 775.
Today area code 501 covers all of Las Vegas and Clark County as well as Boulder City. Area code 775 covers the remainder
of Nevada except Clark County and the Las Vegas Valley area.
