Area Code 327
Area Code 327 History:
Not yet in service.
The Arkansas Public Service Commission has approved Area code 327 as an all services overlay of area code 870 with a revised in service date of February 20, 2024. Area code 327 will be an overlay of area code 870. Ten digit dialing will be required in area codes 870 and 327 on January 19, 2024. Previously, the scheduled in service date was 05/18/2013, however, on 6/22/2012 the Arkansas Public Service Commission suspended the planned implementation date of area code 327.
Ten digit dialing (area code + seven digit number) will be necessary in the 870/327 overlay because two different homes in the same geographic area can have the same seven digit phone number but each would have a different area code.
