Omaha, NE is assigned area code 402. Area code 402 was the original area code assigned to cover the entire state of
Nebraska, including Omaha, when it was put into service on January 1, 1947. In addition to Omaha, NE area code 402 serves the larger communities of Bellevue, Columbus, Fremont, Hastings, Lincoln, Norfolk,
and many other smaller communities in eastern Nebraska. Omaha, NE does not utilize any area code overlays at this time, however, area code 531 is planned as an overlay of area code 402 with an effective date
of March 26, 2011. |
