including Kansas City, MO and put into service on January 1, 1947. In addition to Kansas City, MO area code 816 serves the larger communities of Belton, Blue Springs, Gladstone, Grandview, Independence,
Lee's Summit, Liberty, Raytown and St. Joseph, as well as, many smaller communities in west central Missouri. Although area code 975 has been proposed as an area code overlay of area code 816 which would
include Kansas City, MO, that plan has not been implemented and is considered suspended. At this time Kansas City, MO does not utilize any area code overlays. |
